How to screen record on your iPhone
From TikTok to Instagram Reels to Youtube Shorts, short-form video content is by far the most popular media type in today’s social media landscape. If you’re a small business owner that has been using social media for marketing and are finding a need to pivot, creating short videos from iPhone screen recordings is a quick and easy hack to create content on the fly.
This tutorial will show you how to screen record on your iPhone, in just a few simple steps!
How To Screen Record With Your iPhone
Go to Settings > Control Center and tap the plus (+) button next to screen recording
Open Control Center on your iPhone
For iPhone X and later, swipe down from the top right corner of your screen
For iPhone SE and iPhone 8 and earlier, swipe up from the bottom edge of any screen
Tap the grey Record button to begin your screen recording. Your iPhone will give you a three-second countdown before it starts.
To stop recording, open Control Center again and tap the red Record button. You can also stop the screen recording by tapping the red status bar at the top of your screen.
Your screen recording will automatically save to your Photos!
From here, you can edit the video to trim out the beginning and ending where you start and stop the screen recording.
Continue to edit your video or upload it directly to the social media platform of your choice!
Bonus: How to Screen Record your iPhone with Audio!
Did you know that you can record a voiceover at the same time as your screen recording? Just follow these additional steps before pressing Record!
Open Control Center on your iPhone
For iPhone X and later, swipe down from the top right corner of your screen
For iPhone SE and iPhone 8 and earlier, swipe up from the bottom edge of any screen
Tap and hold the grey Record button. A pop-up screen with additional options will appear.
Click the microphone icon at the bottom to activate audio recording.
Tap Start Recording. A three-second countdown will begin.
Tap twice to exit the screen, close the Control Center, and go back to your main iPhone screen.
Create your screen recording with audio.
Follow the steps outlined above to stop your recording and edit your new video!
Note: all your screen recordings will also capture audio from now on. If you wish to go back to silent screen recordings, toggle your microphone off again by following steps one through three and clicking the microphone off.
